Varnish

You won't see varnish coming. While varnish has many causes, typical varnish problems in turbine oils are due to thermal and oxidative degradation. AMSOIL Industrial Synthetic Gas Turbine Oil contains thermal-stability additives that fight the effects of elevated heat and thermal degradation. Contaminants

Water is a common contaminant in industrial lubrication. Intense pressure inside the system increases temperature, which can separate hydrogen and oxygen molecules, leaving hydrogen free to attack and embrittle metal components until they fail. The area in the upper left of the photo that looks like tooth decay is brittle metal that will eventually ruin the component.

This leaves the oxygen free to attack oil molecules and accelerate oxidation, creating harmful deposits and sludge that stick servos, plug filters and waste money.
